I really enjoy 3D modeling, rendering, and other digital design tools, but for me, sketching with pencil and paper is still the best way to stimulate creative thinking. I begin every design project doing quick thumbnail sketches (with pencil, pen, or marker), before moving to the computer to refine the form and details.
